Don Quixote by Ballet San Antonio

Ballet San Antonio just completed a pretty spectacular run of Don Quixote, based on the classic Cervantes tale, at The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. It was fantastic! Lots of fans, matador pants, windmills, and flamenco-style dresses! And simply gorgeous dancing. Sally Turkel shone in the role of Kitri, and Kathleen Martin was simply stunning as Mercedes. This was the first show of the season, and it was an impressive start. Looking forward to Nutcracker coming up next! It was great to see Alex's pics all over the city in ads for this show--including two-story banners in front of The Tobin Center! Now that's what we call "large format."

Most of you know we serve as the Company Photographer for Ballet San Antonio, San Antonio's only professional company!  But we also have the great honor to work with several other companies and schools as well, including The Children's Ballet of San Antonio, The Greater San Antonio Academy of Ballet, and The Ballet Conservatory of San Antonio!  Here are a few shots from The Conservatory's 2015 performance of Synergy. In November, we will be shooting their performance of Fancy Nancy! Check out www.balletsouthtexas.org for ticket info! We'd love to see you there!

Don Quixote by Ballet San Antonio

Wanted to share a few fabulous wedding images from Daphne and Chris's amazing wedding in the Texas Hill Country at the Sisterdale Dance Hall and Opera House.  Did we mention they are both AGGIES? This was such a fun wedding, despite a few showers that forced a last-minute move of the ceremony! But the sun came back out just in time to take some great pictures under the trees. Gig 'Em!  AN AGGIE WEDDING IN THE SAN ANTONIO HILL COUNTRY

Don Quixote by Ballet San Antonio

Well, we once again had a great time in Fabulous Las Vegas, and once again, Alexander was honored to win another Accolade of Excellence for one of his prints in this annual international competition!  If we are counting right, we think this is NUMBER 14! It's such an honor to be recognized with this incredible group of photographers from all over the world. We are talking FIERCE competition! The winning print features two dancers from Ballet San Antonio--Kathleen Martin and John Frazer. If Kathleen looks familiar, perhaps you have seen her starring in the docu-drama television series, "Breaking Pointe."And once again we stayed at the MGM Grand Casino, and--you guessed it--donated ...

Ballet San Antonio's Peter Pan, by Alexander Devora

Don Quixote by Ballet San Antonio

Ballet San Antonio finished off their 2015-2016 Season with a fun and fabulous production of Peter Pan! This was so fun to shoot--especially the FLYING scenes!  That's right--we are talking Hollywood-style stunts which hauled the ballet dancers many feet above the floor--and boy did they soar!  John Frazer as Hook was just hysterical, and Principals Sally Turkel and Ian Morris were splendid as Wendy and Pan. We posted previously about this great production, but we wanted to add one more featuring Hook! Still Life Photography by Alexander Devora--Proud Company Photographers for Ballet San Antonio

Don Quixote by Ballet San Antonio

As Company Photographers  for Ballet San Antonio, we have seen many things: dogs and horses on stage, a magician who disappears as if by magic, Dracula appearing in a misty castle.  But for Ballet San Antonio's first production of Peter Pan, we had perhaps the most impressive stage effect yet: flying.  Peter Pan, performed at The Tobin Center, was a wonderously funny, beautifully staged production, and we were so happy to be a part of it.

Spring is Coming!

Don Quixote by Ballet San Antonio

Well, in good old San Antonio, we hardly had a winter this year. Oh sure, we took out our sweaters a couple of times, but mostly because they were cute, we spent good money on them, and darn it, we just wanted to wear them. But it's well into Febrary, and clearly it is time to put them away. Several 80 degree days in a row means spring is here--and summer is on its way.  We know what that means--HEAT!  So there is really no better time than to get those fabulous spring-time pics done. Here are a couple of shots from Ashley and Julio's session--a couple of cuties!

Destination Wedding, Cancun

Don Quixote by Ballet San Antonio

Even though it's the Holiday Season in San Antonio, our thoughts keep going back to Mexico. Specifically, on a beach in Cancun, where we had the pleasure of shooting Torri and Alex's fabulously romantic wedding, right there on the beach. The bride walked down an aisle marked by starfish and giant sea shells, and the guests all wore white. It was amazing--and the venue--The Finest Playa Mujeres--was spectacular, and literally brand-spanking new.  We will be going back to these beautiful beaches in Summer 2016, but in the meantime, we have these pics to keep us warm.  Congrats Torri and Alex! Thanks for letting us be a part of this marvelous day!

Don Quixote by Ballet San Antonio

So this post is a LONG TIME coming, but I am finally getting around to posting some of the promo pics of Ballet San Antonio's production of Swan Lake done in October of 2015 at The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. These pics feature principal dancers Sally Turkel and Ian Morris. Aren't they stunning? This was such an impressive production, and we were thrilled to be a part of it.   Ballet San Antonio's Swan Lake--images by Alexander Devora
